Jack is a tough girl ... no nonsense, won't take any crap from anybody. She calls a spade a spade and won't back down. She might be a handful ... but the flip side is that she's got your back. She's loyal like no other, and if she believes in you, you couldn't ask for a better friend. She may have pink hair, but she prefers her tea-time in black leather.

My etsy: (http://www.etsy.com/shop/dollicious) 12:00 p.m. (noon) CST, Thursday, Dec. 22

Now to the pictures:

Jack is the newest <s>happibug</s> moodibug <s>happibug</s> moodibug (JACK! Stop that!!) and has airbrushed make-up, carved lips in a new style (a little pouty ... like she just stomped her little foot!), four sets of my hand-painted custom chips, and a handmade outfit to match her ... ummm .... personality. Jack's eyelids are black with a gradient silver layered on top, and a "sketched" skull in pink on one lid. Jack's outfit was designed and made by me, and includes one of my helmets decorated with a pink skull and chains (and a little heart on the back). She wears a boat-neck, long-sleeved tunic and leggings in black knit, topped with a removable tank in a fishnet weave. Jack wouldn't go anywhere without her shoulder bag! Her bag has a skull decoration and pink chains, and closes with a snap. Jack will arrive on the new licca body she is shown on. (Boots are not included).

Jack's eyechips are a handpainted black on black pair - very cool, a combination of metallic and matte black, a hot pink/silver/black pair, a copper/green and gold pair, and a blue pair with silver highlights. Jack's pull rings are two handcrafted circles of crystal beads, one in shades of pink to match her hair (sleep eye pull) and one in black and pink with a little skullie drop (eye changing pull).

Jack is a Stella Savannah base doll that has been lovingly and carefully customized to suit her new personality. As with all happibugs, Jack's coloring, hair, outfit and story are all cued off of each other and work together as a whole. Jack will be available in my etsy shop Thursday, 12-22 at noon, CST.

Thanks so much for visiting and reading about Jack - love to you all!

Jack - a little update

I'm currently finishing up Jack's outfit and helmet ... she says she's "outta here" as soon as that's done. In the distance, the pounding hooves of a silver horse break the near silence, and a beautiful and mysterious girl with teal hair rides past, faster than the wind. Did you see her? Or was she a dream?

Élégie is a gift for Natasja and April/April-L♥ves-Blythe. I felt sad when Natasja and April no longer had any Blythes due to family necessities .... so I offered to make them a girl as a gift. Natasja sent me a stock T42 ebl and this beautiful teal scalp by Piparrot, and I am creating Élégie for them. This is her very first preview, just her teal and pink airbrushed make-up with silver shimmers ... more details to come later in the week, as well as a romantic dress of the beautiful teal silk dupioni you see her resting on here. I hope you love her, Natasja and April! The other kids call her "Miss Lonelyhearts" … but she doesn't think of herself as lonely, really. Lou Lou passes the time playing with her few toys, and telling lovely long stories to her beloved little doll, Miss Netherwimple. Miss Netherwimple is very wise, and loves Lou Lou very much. She always listens carefully to Lou Lou's stories, and occasionally corrects her english … but mostly she just listens.

Lou Lou has found many treasures exploring her old home. She loves to wear a 1920's art deco crown that her grandmother wore in a special photo. Lou Lou's favorite dress is a gray silk dress that she found in the trunk with the crown. The attic is dark and very dusty, but she's never afraid to go exploring in it - Miss Netherwimple goes with her and keeps an eye out for anything dangerous or unsettling.

Lou Lou is content in her home … but she would love a new friend. Sometimes she sits by the window and hugs Miss Netherwimple … and tells her a story about a friend she knows is out there somewhere - just waiting to find Lou Lou! Lou Lou knows that she will sit with her new friend and listen to her stories - and then the sunshine will come back, and the birds will sing again, and Lou Lou will run outside to play once more.

Thank you so much for your visit!

Introducing Domino and Jeune!

Thank you for visiting my blog! I want to introduce two beautiful new girls that I've just finished.

The first girl is Domino - originally a primadolly Paris, so she has beautiful, thick, soft hair. Domino is a darling girl, and to her, everything is black and white. If you have some feelings of doubt or confusion, Domino can always help you decide on the best path. She's a playful girl who loves board games, riding in the car, playing outside and long talks by the fireplace.

Domino has airbrushed make-up in tones of pink and gray, and lids that reflect her name - one black, one white, airbrushed with handpainted details and then glossed. Her make-up has tiny handpainted hearts in black and white on one cheek, and handpainted details added to her lips. Her make-up has been sealed with MSC and then details and lips glossed. Her hair has been cut into a swingy, slightly angled bob with rounded bangs.

Domino has four special eyechip colors, two handpainted by me - one in silver tones and one pair in periwinkle tones. Her other two chips are brainworm black and a turquoise color with gradient foil. Domino has special pull rings in black and white crystal beads, and a silver star charm on her eye-changing string. She has sleep eyes and comes on the brand-new licca body, shown.

Included with Domino is her custom made Pierrot dress in black, and one of my felt helmets (dollicious is my clothing line) in black with white polka dots adorned liberally with sequins. Both clothing items are my own original design and made with loving care!

The other brand-new happibug custom, "Jeune" is a completely modern Princess. Originally a "Fashion Obsession Jenna", the 8th Anniversary Blythe, she has new airbrushed make-up befitting her royal role, but with a sprinkling of freckles that betrays her playful nature. Jeune seeks to help those around her and anyone in need with the same joyful delight she exudes when trying on a new couture outfit or driving her beloved red ferrari!

Jeune has amazing long, soft center-parted hair in a dark blonde shade. In customizing her, I wanted to retain a few of the special features that she had as the 8th Anniversary girl, so I kept her beautiful stock special lashes, wonderful creamy tea-with-milk colored stock special lids, and two of her original stock eyecolors, a beautiful bright grass green and a rich toffee. Her other two eyecolors feature gold mixed with earthtones (copper and olive) on my own handpainted chips. Jeune's make-up is airbrushed in tones of brown, with hand-painted tiny freckles and a bit of blush from the sun, all sealed with MSC. Her lips and tiny heart are sealed with MSC and glossed. Jeune has a tiny gold heart on her cheek representing her love of life and her love for those around her. Jeune is on a brand-new licca body, and her pull charms (sleep-eye and eye-changing string) are beautiful imported crystals in an oval and heart shape, with gold and white crystal beads.

Jeune wears her handmade Pierrot dress in cream silk dupioni, with a headband decorated with a matching dupioni yo-yo and vintage pearls. Both her Pierrot dress and headband are created by me (dollicious) with loving care.

Thank you so much for visiting and reading about both girls!

Neon Girls!

At 5:00 p.m. central time today (labor day, September 5th) I'll be putting two wonderful girls from my personal collection up on etsy.
dollicious on etsy

Both sold, thank you so much!

This is a rare opportunity to get one of these two neon sweeties at a really great price. I went over each girl carefully today and touched them up a bit so they're perfect, gave them new pull charms, and the green girl a new pair of dark chips. Please read the descriptions carefully for each girl, possibly once they go up on etsy they'll go fast!

These girls are super cute and I love them both, but I have too many girls that I love on too many shelves! I hardly ever sell my personal girls, preferring to re-customize them if I need to shift things around - but these girls are too cute and their face-ups too perfect for them already, to make changes! I am selling them at a great price since they are from my personal collection and not newly created happibugs with special outfits, stories, etc. --- it's a wonderful and rare opportunity!

The nitty gritty on each girl:
1. Pink haired girl: A factory girl with a guava scalp (factory) that never had bangs cut in it. I bought her because I loved the "center part" look in the guava color - but please be aware that she has no thatching in the front (and it's not rooted so that it could be successfully thatched). If that will bother you, please pass her by! She is wonderful and so much fun to photograph, and though I'm super picky about some things, I accepted the unthatched front of her hair as part of her charm. Other details: all new face-up by me, beautifully blended in chalk pastels and protected with MSC. Smoky black lids with hot pink details. She's on a licca body with a tilting neck knob that has been stabilized with a rubber band, so it doesn't tilt (behaves like a normal licca). New pull charms with mulit-colored beads, and a tiny skully friend on one charm to keep her company (happibugs love their skullies! ). She has sleep eyes and four custom chips - dark ocean, dark amber, lime green, and handpainted fuchsia and black. She has a tiny pink and black skully on her cheek with a heart between them, symbolizing the love she carries in her heart. She will travel in the pink and brown dress shown in some pictures, not the green one.

2. Amaryllis with a bob: This is a stock Amaryllis scalp, and her face-plates are one version of the rbl aubrey/aubrena etc. girls. The match is good between scalp and face-plate, though her scalp is a tad bit paler - but it doesn't show of course because it's under her hair! She's been given an adorable little bob with lots of layers and short bangs that are slightly longer in the center. She's on a regular licca body. She has all new make-up by me in beautifully blended chalk pastels, green lids with a pink skully, and a tiny green skully tattoo and pink heart on her cheek. Her make-up is sealed with several coats of MSC. She has four custom chips: black, dark ocean, pale yellow, and her pink special amaryllis chips. *Please note: the pink chips have a little chip out of the center of each, from changing them. It is visible in person, doesn't really show in photos, and the chipped areas have been polished so they are shiny and not as visible - but they are there! I love the pink eyes on her so much that I wanted to leave them in spite of that slight imperfection. Again, it's never bothered me and I forget about the chips - but if that sort of thing really bothers you, I would pass her by!

She has new pull charms with a crystal bead and sparkly green pull ring on one string, and beads with a skully charm on the other. She has sleep eyes. She will travel in a romper made of vintage fabric (in greens, pinks and purples that match her) shown in some photos, not the white print romper seen below.

Both are sold and shipping out Tuesday, September 6th. Thank you so much for looking, and I am excited that these sweeties have found new homes with someone who will love and enjoy them!

The Pierrot Dress from dollicious - etsy shop updated!

I worked this pattern out last week when I was making Fawn's dress. Inspirations came from 60's designs with short skirts and high collars ... a little puritan plus a little come-hither? As always in creating a new design I worked to make it my own and avoid too much similarity to other existing styles, from the popular Pierrot outfits made by many designers to EuroTrash's beautiful countess dresses!

I'm making them in some mod prints as well as solid colors including a tea stain, rose pink, raspberry pink, pale teal, pale blue, and gray. I've found that I really go to solid color dresses lately ... I made some last summer and haven't had a chance since then! It seems I often go to them to highlight the beauty of a custom girl ... that's why I use the white Momoko slip dress so often!

The shop is currently updated (7:15 p.m. U.S. central time, Sunday August 21) and I'll have some more available in just a few days if you miss these! Legend says that long ago a small girl was discovered among the spring group of fawns as they grazed at the edge of the forest on the newly sprouted grass. She played happily with her small crown of bright beads and was content with her animal companions.
The forest animals called her The Lost Fawn, not knowing where she had come from, or where her destiny would take her. They fed her and clothed her as best they could and she grew into a lovely young girl, at peace with the world around her and always ready to help those in need.

One day in late summer, The Lost Fawn went on her way from her forest home. The animals watch each day at dusk ... hoping she may return, yet content in the knowledge that she has gone to seek her dreams and that she will find happiness at each turn in the road.

If you go to the meadow on this very evening, and fortune smiles upon you, you may see her wandering among the flowers, the evening light glistening on her crown. If you see her, be very, very still ... she may come near, and together the two of you may find your dreams.

I've told lots of you that I was working on some new projects - and here is the first! Along with learning to airbrush, I just finished my first re-root, done in the softest mohair that was hand-dyed in myriad shades of pale pink.

The Lost Fawn is a princess from another time who wanders the hills at dusk, searching for her dreams. Is she a legend, or is she real?

Fawn is made with new techniques and signals a new generation of happibugs - but she continues some of my favorite themes. She embodies the "Nature Girl" style I began almost two years ago, and of course, is full of love - like all happibugs!

The Lost Fawn wears a custom made vintage-style dress with lace collar, cuffs and hem. The neckline and waist are decorated with vintage ribbon. Her dress has been carefully tea-dyed to the perfect pale fawn shade.

Fawn comes with her beautiful crystal crown, hand-made from gold-toned wire and crystal beads in many shades. The crown is decorated with two hand-made antlers, a gift from her forest friends as she first left their company and began the long search for her dreams.

Fawn has a hand-made stand that is covered with "moss" and flowers, and two tiny hand-painted vintage deer come along as well ... they could not let her out of their sight and followed her through the forest and the fields for many months! The deer are not glued to the stand to give you more photo and play options.

Fawn has a complete re-root in soft mohair, done in the knot method for maximum length. Fawn has four sets of special chips - 3 pair that I have handpainted to match her coloring, and one pair of brainworm toffee with a gradient foil. Fawn's make-up is airbrushed in beautiful tones of palest pink and fawn brown, and her lips are a pale pink, kissed with gloss. Fawn's make-up has been sealed for durability with MSC flat.

Thank you for visiting and reading about Fawn!

Lynne and the happibugs love you!

Moon's Story:

Moon awoke one softly lit morning and looked out from her world. The sky, purple and teal at dawn, was a beautiful sight. She stretched and made her vitamin juice for breakfast. Moon took tiny sips of her juice as she stood on the balcony of her high-rise, looking out at the dawn and the beautifully colored mineral peaks on the edge of the horizon. Suddenly she realized… today was different. What was it? She gasped as it came to her - of course! It was her day -- time to travel! Moon went to the transport center in her special traveling gear (each person on Moon's planet received a custom made outfit in their youth). She barely needed to speak to the attendants, looking at her glowing, excited face, they knew what to do. Moon entered the travel pod and within days she had arrived here on earth. Moon is a special being, created to bring love and friendship to one special person. As she reaches the end of her journey and travels to meet you, she knows you will have wonderful times together!

Her description:
Moon is a great companion, whether it's just quiet time while you're working (she loves to read or just sit and think!) or out for an adventure on a photo shoot or a drive!

Moon has airbrushed make-up in colors of gray, teal, hot pink and violet, sealed with several layers of Mr. Super Clear Flat. Moon's two-tone eyelids feature airbrushed teal and gray with a metallic shimmer and small silver stars on one lid. Moon's lids are sealed in acrylic gloss, as are her airbrushed lips. Her lips and nose are lightly carved. Moon has sleep-eyes, and four special eye-chip colors chosen for her new make-up: two pairs of my custom handpainted chips, one in iridescent silver, and the other in iridescent turquoise. Moon's side facing eyes are both chips by brainworm, in dark gray and dark teal. Moon was originally a Star Dancer base doll (Takara/Tomy). She has a stock Ebony scalp that has been given a more geometric bob for a more edgy look. (Ebony and Star Dancer have the same skin tone so the match between face-plate and scalp is identical).

Moon has two custom pull charms hand-made just for her. Her sleep eye charm is a circlet of mixed crystal beads with a tiny full-moon companion dangling at the bottom. Moon's eye-changing string has multi-colored crystal beads and a silver star charm.

Moon's custom outfit includes a helmet crafted in a dark teal wool felt and lined with black fabric decorated with jewel-toned starbursts. Moon's helmet is decorated with the stars that lit up the night sky of her youth, re-created in silver felt, carefully hand-stitched, and dripping in sparkling sequins and seed beads. Moon's dark teal tunic is decorated with appliqués and silver stars, and she has coordinating black leggings. All of Moon's clothing items are designed just for her and sewn by me.

Thanks for visiting and reading about Moon!

Moon

Thank you for visiting to read about my current work in progress - Moon, a custom star dancer/ebony hybrid.

She's an airbrushed happibug with make-up in colors of gray, teal, hot pink and violet. Her lids are teal and gray with a silver shimmer and some tiny silver stars. Her ebony scalp is the true length in front and has been given a little sharper, layered bob in the back. Star Dancer and Ebony have exactly the same skin tone, so her scalp matches her face-plate perfectly.

Moon is a loving girl who always cares about others. She is a great companion, whether it's just quiet time while you're working (she loves to read or just sit and think!) or out for an adventure on a photo shoot or a drive!

Moon has two sets of my handpainted chips, and also a dark gray/black and dark ocean (both by brainwork). Moon has two custom pulls with multi-colored crystal beads. She is currently on a licca body and will come that way unless her new owner desires for her to be put on her original tan takara body*.

Moon will come with a dark teal felt helmet by dollicious (me) and a modern tunic outfit to coordinate with her make-up colors. The helmet has glittering silver stars decorated with sequins and seed beads scattered about.

Moon will be available on ebay within several days … I'll update here and on the forums when she's listed. Thank you so much for visiting and reading about Moon!

*The licca body is not an exact match but is close and does not show a huge difference in photos. Each dress is carefully handmade in a new design that features a high, gathered empire waist and a gentle scoop neck. The shoulders and hem are gathered with ribbons tied in colorful bows, and the hem is designed to make a cute ruffle along the bottom of the dress. You can adjust the gathers in the hem to go with different things… you could loosen them and add a petticoat underneath, for example. Each dress is made of an eyelet linen fabric, the top is lined with white dotty fabric, and the dress fastens in back with one metal snap. A sweet golden bird flies along the front, with two creamy vintage pearls nearby.

One revisits my steam-punk hats that I haven't made for a while, with gears and spinners, beads and metallic embroidery on a brown background. The other hat is a new design with a happy cloud watering the spring flowers on one side, a happy sun on the other side, and a little pink heart on the back.

Thanks so much for looking!

Sparrow

Sparrow, originally uploaded by happibug.

A friend of the day and of the night, Sparrow soars at dawn to watch over those she loves.

Sparrow has a wonderful spirit about her. She is haunting and a little exotic, yet very, very sweet ... you just want to pick her up and hug her! My girls love to be your companions and friends, and travel with you for photos and adventures. They always arrive with some adorable clothes and hats that I create just for them .... but you can be sure that my girls love to share! :D

Sparrow is a "love mission" ebl base doll. She has all new make-up in chalk pastels, layered and expertly blended. Her colors are pink and black, and mysterious swirls cover her lids as she dreams of flight. Sparrow's eyechips are handpainted black, brainworm light pinkish-purple, a handpainted pair in colors of black, white, and hot pink, and a wonderful bright pink set of coolcat chips that look fantastic with her make-up. Sparrow's make-up has been sealed with several layers of MSC for durability.

Sparrow has sleep eyes, and two custom pull charms. Her sleep eye charm is a ring of hot pink beads with two silver crystal beads interspersed for sparkle. Her eye-changing pull charm is a lovely silver bird in flight topped with a vintage faceted hot pink bead.

Sparrow comes with a beautiful pink dollicious felt helmet with a sequined black bird soaring on top, trailing a vintage ribbon behind him. A sequined heart decorates the back. She wears a linen empire dress with a draped, layered lace ruffle across one shoulder and down the front and a matching lace petticoat.

Sparrow comes on her licca body, and her scalp has been glued down after her customization with no gaps at all. Sparrow is made with all dolly safe materials and should not be submerged or treated roughly ... she is a little piece of loveable art! <3

Please note: Nearly all Love missions have a varying amount of "crazing" in their plastic, on the surface (due to some kind of a reaction with their plastic and the hair, or something put on the hair during manufacturing, I believe). Sparrow has some of this on her back plate - they are tiny lines, not cracks that go through the plastic - and a few faint lines at her right temple. These are all hidden by her hair and in no way affect her beauty or playability.

Thank you so much for visiting! <3

Heart for Japan

Heart for Japan, originally uploaded by happibug.

Thanks to each of you who stopped at to visit Heart! Her colors are the colors of springtime, and rainbows - exemplifying our firm belief that the Japanese people with their rich heritage and creative spirit will recover fully from the disasters that have beset their beautiful country in the last week.

100% from Heart was given to the Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Fund (a GlobalGiving Project).

Heart is a custom Simply Vanilla Blythe, purchased new for customizing. She has been given a short, very layered bob, and new make-up in chalk pastels, painstakingly blended over many hours, and well-sealed with MSC. Her hair is so soft and fine - it's like perfect "little girl" hair, really sweet!

Heart will come with one of my custom designed felt hats and a dress to match her theme. Her make-up reflects the bright colors of spring - teal, ocean blue, bright yellow and bright pink. She has one of my signature upside down hearts on her cheek - a tear of love --- but her sadness is offset by the heart on her right lid, and the words "Love never fails" on her left lid. Heart will have four custom eye colors, with two pairs of my hand-painted chips.

Heart is a very sweet little girl who will touch your heart! She will arrive on her licca body with two beautiful custom-made pull rings to complement her theme. (If the new owner prefers she can be returned to her stock Vanilla body before shipping. I know I love licca's and their little-girl cuteness, but I'm aware not everyone does! :D)

Thank you so very much for looking and reading about Heart! It is my sincere wish that Heart will help the people of Japan recover as quickly as possible from this tragic earthquake, tsunami, and the resulting disasters.

Lots of love to you all!

Fauna

Fauna, originally uploaded by happibug.

Fauna is a sweet woodland spirit who has crept out as spring arrives in the Northern hemisphere, and is ready to play! She was reasonably happy in her home… she had nothing to do but look out the window all day and dream of horses. When she was new, the little girl who was her mommy would take her off of the shelf and hug her, carefully comb her beautiful, long, black hair, and perhaps change her into a pretty new dress. Peregrine loved these opportunities to spend time with her human friend.

The years passed, and the little girl who was her mommy grew up. She moved away from her happy childhood home, and Peregrine sat on the shelf in the little girl's now empty room, looking out at the big, beautiful world outside, and dreaming still, of horses.

One day she heard a strange rustling at the window. What is this, she asked herself, and carefully scooted herself over on the shelf so she could better see. She gasped when she saw the wise old grandfather owl at her window!

"Child", he said in his gruff but kindly voice, "your wishes and dreams have been heard. Unbeknownst to you, the creatures of the forest have been listening to the thoughts of your heart all of these years. You have been granted a wish that few receive - to become a human girl."

Peregrine listened intently, tears of joy and amazement glistening in her eyes.

"You have only to wish upon the new moon, on the eve of tomorrow - and you will be immediately transformed into your human self. Your beautiful silver horse, Falcon, is waiting at the gate to the meadow to transport you to your new life and to be your companion always".

Peregrine couldn't believe it. After all of her dreams and years of patiently waiting, she was going to live a life of her own and have a horse of her own! She thanked the kindly grandfather owl from the bottom of her heart and settled back on the shelf to consider this amazing development.

The next evening, Peregrine watched with anticipation as the sun set. The day grew quiet, and the birds one by one, stopped their songs. As the new moon rose into the sky, she squeezed her eyes tight shut and wished with all her heart for the things that the grandfather owl had told her.

Immediately she was transported to the meadow, the grass sparkling with dew drops. She heard a friendly whinny and turned to look - there was Falcon, glistening like silver! She ran to him and hugged him close, and then climbed up on his back and rode away, joyfully, into the gathering dusk.

If you go near that meadow at any time and listen very carefully - and watch very closely - you can see Peregrine riding through the meadow, the wind in her hair, as her beloved horse Falcon carries her onward. To this day, Peregrine lives near by, happy and contented. She learned herself, that if you believe with all your heart, your dreams really can come true.

A happy happibug Christmas treat

A happy happibug Christmas treat, originally uploaded by happibug.

Happy Holidays to you all! I am so grateful for the presence of each of you in my life, and all of the fun and photos and comments throughout the year, I wanted to do something special for my flickr contacts.

With that in mind, while working on some other commission dollies this week I created "Mica". She is going out today as a gift to one of you, and the new Mum or Dad will get an email this afternoon with her tracking information. I sincerely hope this is a fun surprise for you, and makes your Holiday and New Year brighter, and that you love her!

Update - here's the next step in Mica's journey, posted on flickr, here!

Mica is a customized Cappuccino Chat Blythe. Her mottos are "Every Cloud has a silver lining!" (which she loves to help you see! :D) and that "All that glitters is not gold". She's been customized in my vivid Nature girl style in colors of hot pink and black (I DID think about naming her Good 'n Plenty! ;D). She has a tiny skullie heart with wings on her cheek, symbolizing the love that she sends out to all of those around her, and a coordinating skullie heart with wings on one lid, attached to a skeleton key (that unlocks all her secrets!) on the other lid.

Mica has four custom eyechips to complement her coloring - brainworm chips in a lilac gray shade, ocean, and black, and a handpainted pair of chips in hot pink and black. Mica has rooted highlights in hot pink and black saran, and has been given an angled bob with bangs. She's excited to dress in lots of different colors and go on adventures… and like all happibugs she especially loves hats! :D (She bribed me to tell you that! :D)

She has two custom pull-rings… crystal beads and a big 60's vintage hot pink bead, and a skeleton key which coordinates with her lid art.

Again, thank you all for visiting and reading about Mica! She carries a lot of depth and sensitivity with her and can see all sides of an issue... considering everyone's feelings and arriving at what are always wise and good solutions in the end. She came from the darkness, but loves light, color and joy around her now.

On Luna's eyelid sits a round silver moon… it was kindly Grandfather moon, with his first breath, who sent the stars to their places in the sky, forming the constellations. When Luna was ready to move out into the world, dear Grandfather Moon again sent out a breath, that, swirling the stars as it passed, sent Luna down to earth. Luna forever wears his image on her lid so that he is always close in her thoughts and her heart.

On her pull-rings Luna carries two dear friends, a friendly silver skullie, and a sweet but shy star. These are her special friends, given to her by Grandfather moon at her departure, and they kept her company during her journey and know all of her innermost secrets.

Luna has two sets of handpainted chips, and two sets of custom chips. She arrives wearing a custom-made romper, decorated with twinkling stars, and a special helmet in midnight-blue glittery felt, fully lined, and topstitched in golden metallic thread. The helmet is decorated with golden wings which help her in her journey, and a golden skullie at the back, both adorned with iridescent beads and sequins. Her helmet fastens at the side with a metal snap, and is adorable left open as well.

Thank you so much for visiting and for sharing Luna's story with me.

Storm

Storm, originally uploaded by happibug.

Storm is a nature girl with a twist. Storm's eyes are decorated in carefully blended shades of fuchsia, black, and purple. She has underlashes in hot pink, white, and black, and on her lid and cheek, a lightning bolt and skull… representing her sensitive mood and her story. All her life she dreamed of that far-off green and blue globe she knew only as Earth. Her greatest wish was to someday find a way to go there, knowing she would find true happiness and the fulfillment of all her dreams.

As she grew, she learned that if a being from her world wished and hoped hard enough, it would be possible to ride with the falling stars that raced through the sky. She held that thought dear and close to her heart, waiting for the time that would be right. Finally the day arrived… she closed her eyes and dreamed and wished… and there she was! Home at last, she felt certain.

Astra is an EBL mold girl, with custom make-up in the tones of the earth as seen from a distance… shades of blue and green. Her lids display the same tones, and the words "There's no place like home"… with a field of stars on one lid and a shooting star on the other - perhaps the star she rode in on?

Her pull rings are a large blue and turquoise bead reminiscent of a globe, and a ring of sparkling blue crystals with a dangling golden star. Her hair has highlights in blonde, silver, and turquoise… and is trimmed in a long, very layered blunt cut with bangs. The earth she's always dreamed of adorns her lightly blushed cheek. Thank you so much for visiting and reading about Astra! Thanks for visiting for a little update!

Though I am unable to re-open public commissions for the foreseeable future, there are spots that were previously reserved for commissions through spring of 2011. After much thought I find it necessary to make a few changes in handling commissions, and reinforce a few points that have been effective for some time… so thank you for visiting and reading!

Due to the great amount of time and attention to detail that I invest in my custom girls, I am setting a new price structure for commissions. There are two price points in this new structure, the first covering a full face-up, any carving, lids (solid or decorated) boggling, gaze correcting, new eyechips as needed, sleep eyes, and two new pull charms to coordinate with the new look, if desired. Anything and everything needed to make your girl into a sweet and precious happibug!

The second price point covers all of the above treatments plus saran highlights. These new price points will be effective September 1, 2010. If you have a reserved spot for 2010-2011, please email me at princessulalynne@yahoo.com and I will give you the new price points. If anyone wishes to forfeit their reserved spot based on this new structure, I understand completely. Let me know if that is your wish.

A licca body is available for an extra charge, unless supplied of course! Return shipping is not included in any stated prices.

When an invoice is submitted at or near completion of your girls' new look, payment is expected upon receipt of invoice unless previous arrangements have been made. You will have been seeing several weeks of preview pics before hand, so it will be easy to recognize she's almost done. I do enjoy working on the girls, but at the same time, I'm using my "free" time and making a choice to spend that time on an artwork for you, rather than my own project. It seems only right that respect should be given to that and prompt payment made. Also, a gift payment is appreciated as I do not "pad" my prices to cover fees.

Thank you for reading, thank you for your time, and thank you for trusting me with your beautiful girls!

girls, girls, girls!

originally uploaded by happibug.

Some very sweet happibugs are ready to be assembled and will be winging their way home soon! At the same time, I have quite a few girls here who will be undergoing work. I want to thank each of you who has had a girl here waiting for a while… even though the spring "break" that I had planned wasn't really a break, it did result in a slower pace and less pressure, which was quite refreshing!

The next girls to be worked on include Cybermelli/Melissa's Paris, Carmen/Ccandy17's MLC, Zoe… and a very special Love Mission project for Cagla/*chacha*. Next in line after that fabulous trio is a Love Mission for *lovebucket*/G. Then there will be some other girls that were previously scheduled coming in through out the year, and I have a LOT of plans for special custom happibug girls that will be available, once these reserved girls are finished! Looking forward to that and some other exciting projects that are in the works!

Thanks so much for visiting! As a young girl she would slip out of bed at night and come out to the Big Top, carefully sneaking behind the crowd and watching with wide eyes as her parents performed each night. She thought them the most glamorous, beautiful couple she had ever seen as they swung on the trapeze, rode the elephants, and juggled colorful balls, scarves, and rings. As Cirque grew up she always cherished these memories, and the sounds of the animals, the smell of sawdust, the gentle rocking and chugging of the train at night as it took the circus family to their next destination….

Cirque is a loving, wide-eyed girl who never lost the joy and innocence of her childhood. She brings that with her as she travels, and loves to discover new things, and to show kindness and gentleness to those around her. She loves adventure - another memory from her childhood with the circus - but cherishes time at home with those she loves, as well… as her extended circus family taught her!

Cirque was originally a primadolly Aubrey, and now wears an MLC scalp. Her hair has been lightly layered to frame her face, and highlight her eye colors of light turquoise, gradient periwinkle, brown, and dark brown with a gradient foil. Her pull rings charms are crystal beads atop a compass to guide her path, and a charm that reads "Artful"…. embodying her way of life and the grace and discipline she learned as a high-wire walker, her art of choice as a member of the circus. Cirque's make-up is carefully layered in many shades of chalk pastel and sealed with MSC for durability. Cirque's dress is decorated with colorful rings in shades of pink, that echo the three rings that have filled her life with so much joy. She'll also come wearing her little pink maryjanes, perfect for play-time, or training on the highwire and trapeze!

Cirque is very excited about the next step in her journey, as she travels to live with our flickr friend Amanda, in Canada!

Good Morning, Starshine!

Good Morning, Starshine!, originally uploaded by happibug.

Starshine is the second in my series of Nature girls… lately I've been thinking about the earth we live on, and how much it offers us in beauty, joy, and comfort… as well as sometimes exhilarating displays of power and magnitude, and dangers to be respected. These thoughts creep into my heart as I work on these custom girls… and in the girls' stories are manifested some of that love of nature and the earth around us that we too often take for granted… but which gives us so much!

Starshine grew up in the Southwestern United States. As a small girl wandering her parents' ranch, she grew to love the starry nights… an inky sky, a golden wedge of moon, and the constellations gazing down on her. She loves long walks in the hills, a glass of wine at dusk... and being outdoors in the nature she holds so dear.

She's an ebl Samedi Marche with layered, choppy bangs. Starshine's eyelids reflect both the beauty of the hills in the desert at sunset, and the sky as evening turns to night and the stars begin to twinkle.

Starshine will travel in her custom-made linen dress and brass necklace with her best friend, the moon, to keep her safe. She will have four special colored chips to coordinate with her make-up, special pullrings to match her theme, sleep eyes, and will come on the licca body, shown. Starshine is going to a lovely home, and she thanks you all for visiting her here, and getting to know her just a bit before the next step in her journey!

Thank you for your visit! <3

Meeting some friends...

Meeting some friends..., originally uploaded by happibug.

A very short customizing update: I had anticipated being able to re-open public commissions in June of this year, but I now find that my acting work has grown to such a volume that I am unable to take on additional commitments at this time. She remembers a happier time when the world was younger and flowers bloomed, carefree, in the meadows. She loves the oceans and the creatures that live there, and hopes that she can contribute to keep the oceans clean and safe for all of the creatures to enjoy. She loves to run and play outside, and especially loves to visit the beach where she can pick up mementos to remind her of the beautiful times there.

She's a Disco Boogie, originally, with make-up in tones of light brown and lilac-pink. She'll have four custom chip colors, including the brown and lilac shown in her pictures. She has sleep eyes and will have two custom charms. She's on a licca body, and her hair has been cut into a very layered, slightly graduated bob with choppy bangs.

Thank you so much for visiting! But now that she's achieved her goal and had many hit records, she finds her greatest happiness is at home with her friends and loved ones... she takes to the stage and gives a great show - but loves to return home to quiet times and her "roots".

Cilla is a Nostalgic Pop base doll with a layered, longish bob that can go "wild" or "sweet"... and make-up in tones of green, teal, and fuchsia. Cilla will have four sets of custom chips that coordinate with her make-up. She has sleep eyes with a special pull, and retains her special Nostalgic Pop pull in a bright yellow. Her lids will be done in a pop-art design in teal and fuchsia pastels to coordinate with her shadow. Her hair can be styled to be wispy around her face, or bangs pushed to the side for a sweeter look, and her hair is long enough for up-dos and pigtails, very versatile. It's cut in a blunt, slightly angled bob with lots of layers.

Thanks so much for looking! After a dark, cold winter, trees began to bud, and flowers poked their first tender leaves up from the ground, hesitantly seeking the warmth of the sun.

In this magical forest, the caterpillars came and spun their cocoons, nestling down to several weeks of rest after their hard work. As the grass grew, and the sun shone, there was a special feeling in the forest - almost as if something incredible were about to happen --- something never before seen.

Before any of the forest denizens realized, it was time for May Fest. It was always a special celebration, completed by the sight of thousands of butterflies emerging from their cocoons and flying freely into the blue sky. All the creatures worked hard, making cakes and sweets, and setting up the forest clearing for their May Fest celebration.

Finally the morning arrived, and with joy and anticipation, they turned to the trees where each creature wanted to be the first to spy a butterfly emerging from a cocoon. Suddenly the bunny children cried out - over here, over here! And all of the creatures gathered to watch. As the cocoon was gently opened from within, the spell-bound audience gasped - what was this?! Not a butterfly, but the prettiest, tiniest golden haired girl they had ever seen! She poked her head through the opening, shook her gentle curls, and said in a voice like droplets of silver water, "Would someone help me down?".

The creatures fell over themselves, each wanting to help this girl, so unlike a butterfly, yet so beautiful and unique. She stepped out, and with their encouragement, climbed down from the tree to meet her new friends. At that moment, the other cocoons began to move and open, and within seconds the air was filled with shimmering, fluttering butterflies of all colors and sizes, celebrating the birth of their beloved sister.

Grandmother Bear watched the proceedings from her comfortable chair carved long ago from an old oak tree. She wasn't in a hurry, knowing that the new girl would come to meet her at the first opportunity. And indeed, as soon as the air had cleared from the first emergence of the butterflies, the small pink bunny brought the girl to stand before Grandmother Bear. "Who am I?" asked the girl, her wide blue eyes focused on the wise bear's kindly face.

"You are Bug", Grandmother Bear answered. "It was prophesied long, long ago that if the forest kingdom lived rightly and respectfully and peacefully, a miracle would happen - that a little girl would arrive during the May Fest celebration, and carrying the love and beauty of this magical forest in her person, move out into the world to share this peaceful joy with others. That is your destiny. You will remain here with us for a year, and after that, you will be sent on a journey to the other worlds - but you will always have our love and light and laughter in your heart -- the love and beauty of all of the creatures of the Butterfly Forest".

And now, a year having passed, Bug moves into this world. She carries the beauty of the forest in her heart, and wears a soft dress decorated carefully by the best bunny seamstresses with flowers and beads. Her pull ring is made of multi-colored crystal beads, their sparkle reflecting the vivid color and movement of the butterflies as they emerge at spring time. When you are with Bug, if you look closely, you may see a butterfly... or a bird, or a bunny. You can be certain that creature is a friend from the Butterfly Forest, sent to keep watch over the Forest's beloved daughter, Bug.

Bug is a custom Cassiopeia Spice Blythe. She has chips in forest tones... teal, handpainted blues to reflect the sky, a deep brown, and an emerald green. She is wearing a dress by dollicious with a coordinating sparkly tulle petti, and the dress was hand-beaded (by bunnies, of course!) with a golden butterfly charm as a remembrance of her origins.

Thank you so much for coming to visit and for reading Bug's story!

Sprocket's pull ring charm...

Sprocket's pull ring charm..., originally uploaded by happibug.

Sprocket is a steam punk girl with a sweet edge. She came from mysterious beginnings, and was discovered as a baby, in a dark and dirty tenement by an old, old woman who was commonly viewed as insane by those who lived near her. This elderly woman took Sprocket in and raised her as she had many children before, with love and tenderness belied by the rough and dangerous world around them.

When Sprocket was 10 years old, the elderly woman had a special party for the girl's birthday. Since gifts, sweets, and treats as we know them today were rare in that world, the woman had saved her meagre income for months to bake a small cake for Sprocket, and gathered some small treasures she had held dear for many years, as gifts.

The story she told Sprocket was incredible. The old woman was in truth her paternal grandmother, who had followed the sad and troubled life of Sprocket's mother for months after the old womans' son (Sprocket's father) was killed by a marauding group of Technors, the evil group who had done so much damage to their world. Sprocket's mother had hidden away in the center of the dark and damaged city, and safely given birth to the little girl... but though she loved her, she could not carry on, and she had to leave baby Sprocket behind, hoping someone would find and care for the baby.

Grandmother had known all of this, through her mysterious means and powers, so she rescued the little girl and cared for her. Grandmother allowed those around her to see her as "deranged" because then they would leave her alone, allowing her to live in peace. She informed Sprocket that when she came of age, Sprocket would have to leave this land and go on a long journey, seeking safety in a new world. And as a gift to help her find her way, and to remember all she had known and loved, she gave Sprocket a precious locket with a compass on the front, which held two photos - Sprocket's mother as a girl, and a picture of the only home Sprocket had ever known.

Sprocket has now left that world, and she carries her Grandmother's gift near to her heart. She dressed for her trip in an old linen gown of muted colors, decorated with talismans from her Grandmother's workbench of magical and ancient powers. Sprocket carries a sweetness in her heart, and knows that her next days will be happy ones. Imprinted on Sprockets' lids are the gears that are a reminder of the world in which she was born, but she looks past them with beautiful eyes in dark, rich tones. When she lies to sleep, she remembers... and is sometimes haunted by the world that she knew.

Sprocket is the newest happibug custom. She wears a PDWW scalp with bangs added, and has rich black eyeshadow with golden yellow layered at the top, and tiny black underlashes. Her lips are carved and colored in layered shades of pink and cherry. Sprocket's lids are handpainted with a gear design, and she has sleep eyes. Her pull ring charms are a locket with a moveable gear ornament on the front, and two precious photos inside, and a carved bone hand with vintage pearls. Sprocket is dressed in a linen dress made by me (dollicious), and adorned with a removable pin that says "fragile", from which hang a sterling silver heart, a gear charm, a sculptural face charm, and a hand, a popular icon used in jewelry from the victorian era.

Thanks so much for visiting and reading Sprocket's story! I had a wonderful time creating her!

happibug custom update...

happibug custom update..., originally uploaded by happibug.

It's been such a treat to work on special girls for many of you during the last year! Thanks to each of you who entrusted your girl to me; it has been a great experience to work on so many different girls for current flickr friends, and to make some new friends in the process! I am nearing the end of the current roster of girls that are here for spa visits, and I will be taking a break for several months. I won't be starting a "wait list" in advance... please read on for a description of how I plan to handle reservations after the break.

Customizing for others was expected at first to only be a "summer project" (for last summer-2009)! I am very grateful for the girls I've had the opportunity to work on; and equally grateful that people love the girls I create -- that means a great deal to me! At the same time; I need a break to realize my own ideas and practice some new techniques that will allow me to keep growing creatively and in the quality of the work I'm able to produce. During this break time I hope to make more girls "from scratch" that will be appealing and available for adoption, as well.

Again, thank you for the privilege and honor of working on your precious girls. If you have questions or comments, please comment below, or contact me at princessulalynne@yahoo.com. She has had a tender disposition growing up, and still needs lots of love and care... but she feels stronger everyday and loves to run and play out of doors!

Thank you to everyone who inquired about these two sweeties! I have two more in the works... and sometimes when I need a little pick-me-up, one I wasn't expecting "comes to life"... it always cheers me up to work on these girls! So there will definitely be several more coming before the holidays, and more in January and February as I have a break from commissions. Thank you again for loving these girls, and hugs to you all!

... imagine...

... imagine..., originally uploaded by happibug.

On originality and creativity...

Working on blythe makes me happy. I view customizing Blythe as a kind of "loveable art"... a little personality that brings love and happiness to her owner, whether it be me or others, who is created to make life a little happier... more peaceful... more fun.

I respect the designs and discoveries of others who work hard on their art. To me, "inspiration" or being "inspired by" usually has to do with viewing beauty or art that one then translates into one's own medium. For example, if I see a gorgeous sunset ... I might then feel "inspired" to create a lovely formal gown for Blythe that incorporates the sheen and colors of the sky.

In a public medium such as the internet and flickr, it is impossible to control what another person might choose to do with the visual inspiration they see on one's stream. I can only say that I believe that copying the artistic and creative work of another is and has always been inappropriate. I wish it were possible to live in a world where that did not occur.

upcoming projects!

A little preview of my dolly work for the next few weeks...

Zephyr... an ice princess. Zephyr is a Matryoshka Maiden base doll
with beautifully toned iridescent make-up in blues, lavenders and blue-green shades. She will come in a white satin dress with a veil and tiers of multi-layered pettis in shades of charcoal, cream and silver. Zephyr grew up in the cold and icy northern countries, the only surviving daughter of a ship-wrecked explorer and his wife. In spite of this bleak beginning, Zephyr was found and nursed by a loving community of animal friends who saw to it that she received all the education and training necessary to become the gracious and beautiful young lady that she is today.

Berry... an EBL Cinnamon girl base doll who will have make-up done in rich shades of scarlet, blueberry, grape and cinnamon. As a small child, Berry wandered away from home into the magic forest that grew near her village. Despite many attempts, the villagers could never locate her. Deprived of human companionship, Berry nonetheless found a world of color and wonder in the forest, and made many friends who helped her find her way in the world.

Berry is a sweet and compassionate girl who loves the rich colors and beauty of the fall and all the special holidays that come throughout that time of year. She is equally at home in the warmth of the summer sun and treasures her time outdoors, enjoying the beautiful flowers, sunshine, and her tiny animal friends that she meets wherever she goes!

2 more Love Mission customs... one will be ready in December, the other may be later. They will embody the love and sweetness that is present in the circus girls... with beautifully shaded make-up in rich colors to complement their beautiful dark hair.

Thank you for coming to visit! I'm so excited about ALL of these new girls! I appreciate you all so much, and hope that if you celebrate the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, that you have a wonderful one... and if you don't celebrate Thanksgiving, that you have a wonderful week and the best weekend ever! She grew up in the abandoned train cars from the circus, but even though she was alone with only a few small wild animals that she loved as pets, she kept her home clean and as warm as she could. She decided one sunny morning that it was time to strike out and see the world, to make some new friends and share the joy that she sees in life.

Peppermint is on hold at this time, excited to meet her new Mummy and sisters! Thank you!

She has a new licca body and two beaded "steampunk" gears as her pull charms. She has carved lips that are glossed and colored a pale peach, and green eyeshadow that coordinates with her lovely pale green hair. Both of these girls (Peppermint and Lilac) had amazing hair... full of body and not dry at all. Peppermint's hair has been washed and conditioned and trimmed, to even up the layers and remove any un-evenness from the factory. Her eyechips are black, emerald green, a gradient light purple, and blue-green. Her eyeshadow echoes a design of Art Deco bubbles, a popular theme for jewelry through out the 1920's.

a dreamer...

a dreamer..., originally uploaded by happibug.

Thanks for visiting! Over the last weeks I've been designing this precious girl. She is number 5 in my series of lost circus girls... growing up in the shadow of the old wooden coaster, she learned to find her joy and fun in small things that others might pass by unnoticed. In spite of the hardship of her early years, she is deeply loyal, and is quick to make new friends and see the good in everyone.

She is at her new home now, enjoying her new friends and surroundings! Thank you so much!

She has a simply peppermint (medium pale) face and backplate and a Matryoshka Maiden scalp that has been given delicate highlights in many tones of blonde and light brown. Her hair has been trimmed to a medium length blunt cut, with some light layers added so your can floof her hair out for a "wild child" look, and adorable, feathered short bangs to highlight her beautiful eyes.

She is on a brand-new licca body... as is often the case, the licca body does not exactly match the skin tone of her faceplates, so keep that in mind - though the waif-like appearance of the licca body is so adorable!

Other notes: she has beautiful eyelids in a harlequin pattern, light dusty-blue chalk pastel shadow, pale pink lips... and has been sealed with Mr. Super Clear. She has eyechips in tones of blue, one pair is still under consideration. She has sleep eyes, and will have beautiful "steam punk" gears with glass beads in coordinating colors for her pull rings. Her lips will be glossed (they are not yet glossed in the above photos).

She has a matryoshka maiden scalp, so her scalp line is a teeny bit lighter than her skin tone, but it doesn't show at all with her hairstyle. Also, she has an ebony dome, but that is completely unseen when she is assembled... it is totally hidden inside her head, I just want everyone to be aware of that so they won't get a shock if they ever open her head! There is the tiniest gap around her scalp in some areas, as well -- about the width of a piece of card stock, not a significant gap.

As with all custom dolls she has been carefully and lovingly conceived and designed, so if you like her but would want to change this or that, I respectfully ask that you pass her by.

Hugs, Lynne

finishing touches...

finishing touches..., originally uploaded by happibug.
Thanks for stopping by, and hope you have a fantastic day! To keep it creative and vibrant I have formed some guidelines to help things go smoothly.

From time to time I will take breaks in accepting commissions so that I can stay fresh and pursue other projects. My basic turnaround time right now is about 6 to 8 weeks, from the time your doll arrives at my house. I do have a very busy career in another avenue of the arts, so from time to time my schedule becomes crowded and things may take longer. I also work on several projects at once to keep things fresh... and I try to allow for that in the "lead time" I specify to work on each doll.

If you've inquired about a commission, and we have agreed on a time frame for your doll (such as "I can take her in October...") then when the specified time rolls around, please get in touch with me and let me know you are sending your doll. That will help everything to go smoothly. I will then send you my address via a return email.

I don't consider a reservation made simply by sending out my price list -- that is normally an "intermediate" step in the process.... so if you wish to pursue the customizing commission, be sure to get back in touch so we can finalize a time frame.

During the process, I will post update pictures for you on flickr, and please feel free to check in at any time to see how things are going! I'm busy, but always willing to give you an update or answer any questions.

Right now I'm not accepting any more commissions until April of 2010. If you'd like to inquire about sending a girl in April or any time after, please contact me in March and we can start the process of making a reservation for your girl!
